In the fisherman's cabin

It is evening, and there is a little fire going in the cabin. The table is laid as grandfather Anders is expecting his grandson Jakob back from setting the nets. There is herring with potatoes and some filbunke for supper. Anders is killing time binding a new fishing net. There is constant work with the nets. The old ones have to be repaired and new nets have to be made.
