Fishing for herring

The sea is calm tonight. Jakob has gone out with the men from the fishing village to set the herring nets. After a few hours’ sleep they will return to empty the nets from the night's catch. The herring is then cleaned and salted and stored in barrels. There is a lot of work to be done – good thing there are so many helping hands!
